Traditionally, research and academic careers rely on publishing, which is considered the foundation of academic merit. Open access to published work has increased the potential of research to come to usefulness. However, several challenges are there. Scientific language can be difficult for those outside the field. Although many papers are openly accessible (some are not), not everyone knows how to find them.
Knowledge transfer is essential for research outcomes to come to utilisation. This can take many forms and actually plays a key role in creating impact. As we know, impact is crucial in project proposals and an important factor in evaluation. You will not have high chances of funding unless there is impact. The track record of impact creation will be a factor that offers a competitive edge. All in all, transfer of knowledge will open up opportunities for research area and career. These topics will be discussed in the forum, where Mikael Syväjärvi will share his perspective, followed by an open discussion among participants.
