This is an open meeting at which we will discuss how to position for research leadership and career.
Mikael Syväjärvi will present an overview of activities which are beneficial for research and career. He will use content from the full course “Capacity and competence for leadership in research and career“.
We will discuss the importance of visibility in career advancement. Publishing papers alone is not enough for visibility; proactive outreach is essential. Organizing activities and events, like workshops and symposia, can significantly enhance visibility. Do not limit yourself only to familiar conferences, as it restricts new ideas and opportunities. Attending different conferences and interacting across disciplines can foster new thinking and collaborations. The path in academia is individual. It is important to think broadly and create synergies by connecting different contexts. We will also share practical steps for translating research into business impact without necessarily becoming an entrepreneur.
